Cold and Flu Season Survival Kit
17:30:00
I'm currently fighting off my first cold of the season and I'm feeling icky to say the least! Unfortunately, at this time of the year people seem to be getting ill everywhere and most people will get at least one cold.
Here's my favourite natural remedies for colds and how I naturally help my symptoms and help to speed healing along.
Echinacea
I take one pill a day as soon as I see people around me sniffling to hopefully get my immune system up enough to stop me getting it. If that fails, I take a dose of echinacea whenever I take conventional medicine. It makes it easy to remember and if I am needing conventional medicine, I figure I should be giving my immune system a helping hand, not just masking symptoms.
Eucalyptus
This essential oil is brilliant at clearing your sinuses and helping you breathe. The best way to use this is to either dilute into a carrier oil and massage in to your chest or put a few drops in a oil burner to infuse the oil into the room.
Tea Tree
Tea Tree is an amazing all rounder oil. It is antiseptic so is great for things like cuts or spots to stop infection but I use it in an oil burner with eucalyptus to try and get rid of some airborne germs and at least attempt to get it into my nasal tract where the germs are!
Water + Vitamin C
Most important of all, get fluids back in you. How you do is doesn't matter, just drink, drink, drink!
I've really got into adding lime with my water recently, I prefer the taste to lemon but either is good and you are upping your vitamin C at the same time.
